FAMILY RECORDS FROM SPAIN

This is going off on a major tangent, but I just have to let you all know that I have found the records from a little town called Torredondo (in the province of Segovia, Spain), from where my ancestors are. This little town is nearly extinct, the church has not been open for services for years now, and there were literally only about four people living there last I saw (15 years ago).

I had thought that these records had been destroyed during the Spanish Civil War, but lo and behold, here they are! These records contain all of the births, deaths, and marriages recorded by the Catholic priests all the way back to the 1600's! My great-great grandparents had ten children that I didn't know of, about half of them died as babies from various illnesses.

Absolutely astounding, and I'm going to get all the info I can and collect it, organize it into family trees, and present it to my family for Christmas (if not this year, next year).

For more information on family records from anywhere in the world, go to http://www.familysearch.org/, click on "catalog" and enter the city or town of the area you are looking for.

Good luck!
